I had a request from Erin @ Creating and Teaching to do a Dental clip art set!  So...here it is!  This set includes 2 dentists, 2 dental hygienists, 3 toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, a dental mask, a smiling tooth & a normal tooth!  :)   Hop on over to my Etsy shop to purchase it!

  3. Hi Lauren! I'm one of your newest followers! I love your clip art! I have a question for you - I've been playing around with making my own clip art through drawing/sketching on my iPad and from pencil and paper, but I'd really like to start using a computer software because I think it'd be a bit easier than drawing then scanning, and it'd be more clean. What software do you use? Do you have any tips on what programs would work best on a Mac? I'd love to be pointed in the right direction.

Thanks so much! Have a great weekend!

  4. @ Hadar & Kristin--Thanks friends!

@ Katherine--Hey girl! That's awesome that you want to start your own clip art...but I am not going to help you. LOL! JK! Hahahaha I'm sorry, I'm in a crazy mood! Of course I'll fill you in on good programs!

Right now I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements. It is kind of an expensive program but I got it free when I bought a Wacom Intuos 3 drawing tablet that I bought off of Ebay a long time ago. I don't use my tablet to make clip art, btw. I just use it when I draw for fun!

I've also used Adobe Photoshop CS3 before (they have higher versions now) but honestly, you can do pretty much everything with Photoshop Elements as far as clip art goes. The only thing is it is REALLY hard to make curved lines...I have to use tricks & crazy methods to achieve curved lines. So that might be a consideration when deciding between Elements & CS5.

Other programs include Corel Painter...but I've never used it so I don't have an opinion on that one. It also came on a disk with my Wacom tablet. ;P

BTW! Adobe works on Mac or PC. I own a Macbook Pro but I actually use my school laptop, which is just a Dell with Windows HAHAHA! but I only use it because it has a wider screen, PLUS I can work on stuff at school during my planning period, haha!

Please let me know if you have any more questions! I'd be happy to answer them!

  6. Thanks for your advice, Lauren! That definitely helped - my boyfriend has Photoshop on his computer, and I actually designed a friend's wedding save the date with that program a few months ago, and it took a LOT of time for me to figure everything out (he ended up doing a lot of the work while he followed my design directions!). I'm hoping to use some time this summer to start playing around with it more, because the possibilities seem endless!

    Happy Monday! :)

  9. I started using this set to create some dental health activities and I love it! May I make one suggestion/provide feedback for the future? The pictures of the teeth, and the bristles on the tooth brush do not show up on white backgrounds. I would suggest a black line around the edges of these images so they could be used on a white background!

Love your work! Keep it coming! :)

  10. Hey Erin! Yeah I've thought about that! I love the way it looks without a black outline on colored backgrounds, but I'll try to remember to provide another copy with an outline so you can use it on white backgrounds like worksheets!!!! Thanks for the feedback!

  11. Sometimes, people forget even the most basic things in taking care of the teeth, especially flossing. They have to keep in mind that the three (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss) should go together. It's like a three-legged footstool. Without one, the whole thing would fall down.
